Christina- BSN, RN, CEN, EMT
I first stepped onto the ice at nine years old, and figure skating quickly became a huge part of my life. I competed for a total of 10 years. I also began coaching in my teenage years and continued through college. I graduated from Seton Hall University with a Bacehlor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Catholic Studies. At this time I also started working in EMS.
After graduating, I stepped away from skating to attend nursing school. I graduated from Felician University in 2020 with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. I began my career as an emergency department nurse at the height of the pandemic. Although I loved my profession, there was always a part of me that missed the ice. There weren't many options for adults to compete when I was growing up, so a lot of us stopped skating.
After nine years away from the sport, everything changed when I watched the 2026 Winter Olympics. I saw Alysa Liu having the time of her life out there, and doing it on her own terms. Our sport was beginning to change in a positive way. The passion I thought I left behind came rushing back, and in early April 2026, I returned to the rink determined to see how far I could go. I saw adults my age and much older having the best time, and it was truly inspiring.
Today, I'm on the ice 2-3 times a week, and training off the ice at the gym almost every day. This sport has brought me so much joy, and I'm more determined than ever to follow the dream I had as a child. I am able to balance my training with my career, and I will also be completing my Masters Degree in Nursing (FNP/Nurse Practitioner) in 2027. My goal remains the same as it was over a decade ago- go to US (adult) Nationals, and represent adult Team USA at the international level.
One day the name "Scrubs N Skates" popped into my head. I decided to create and grow my online platform on here, TikTok, and Instagram. This is where I can share both my passions in life. Whether you're following along as a skating fan, interested in partnering as a sponsor, or simply looking for proof that it's never too late to chase a dream, I'm glad you're here. Thank you for your support and reading my story.
With love,
Christina
